NEW - What if a Martin had flame maple back and sides? That question is answered in this Martin Custom Shop D-Size Acoustic Guitar with Deep Quilt Maple Back and Sides! We ordered this custom Martin Acoustic, at the 2018 winter NAMM show this past January. Martin Custom Shop master luthier Dan Brown, had some very special, highly figured, deep quilt maple woods that looked amazing! It was at that moment we knew this guitar had to be made. We were able to choose the finest of the lot, and had a special Martin D style body acoustic ordered (Photos below of us picking the wood set #4 for this guitar at NAMM). This guitar not only looks stunning with it's beautiful deep quilt maple back and sides, but also sounds like no other Martin we've heard!
When Martin’s top master luthier Dan Brown built this guitar for us, capturing both Martin and Gibson tones were essential. An Adirondack Spruce top, with Adirondack Golden Era scalloped forward shift bracing, gives this guitar a crisp, full tone. To truly make this guitar something special, looks were also essential. We looked through every single set of wood Martin had brought to The NAMM Show, and selected wood set #4, the most exotic looking flame maple wood they had.
We wanted a neck that would have fantastic playability, so we chose a preforming artist neck profile, with 25.340" scale length, and a 16" radius. We also chose a satin neck to prevent grease, and sweat buildup, so it always feels smooth, and clean every time you pick up the instrument.
